Style Guide

Contemporary
Influenced by the fashion of the day, Contemporary Style is warm, clean and very family-friendly. A sofa can be slim or overstuffed. With a variety of fabrics, it can be either upholstered or have a slipcover. Accessories are very important in this style. Therefore, you’ll see pillows, candles, and vases enhancing a given space in order to give the contemporary home its lived-in feel.
Asian
Influenced by the Asian culture, the Asian style emphasizes simplicity, space and calmness. Colors are usually primary without being flashy. Furniture, lamps and accesories all work to bring balance and harmony to the room. The style of furnishings is simple, yet elegant. There is a tranquil quality to these rooms.
Modern
Influenced by minimalism, Modern Style is a very angular environment without a lot of extras. This type of furniture is usually mixed with metal such as a sofa with a metal base legs instead of wood. There is an emphasis on materials made of glass, metal, and some wood along with simple fabrics. The minimal use of accessories creates a very clean look for the modern home.
Shabby Chic
Influenced by contemporary styles, Shabby Chic is a very unique look. The sofas are usually slip-covered, big, and extra soft. The wood has a rustic, worn look to it. Paint is uneven so that the grain of the wood shows through. Accessories are also very important in this style, but they are mixed and matched, which adds to the eclectic yet attractive ambiance of the shabby chic home.
Traditional
Influenced by antiquity, Traditional Style presents a formal atmosphere. The pieces are usually large, make a statement, and are often made of dark woods like cherry or walnut. The rooms often contain antique pieces. Dark and rich colors (e.g. burgundy, gold, browns, and dark greens) play a large part in the traditional home, which help to convey an opulent atmosphere.
Retro
Influenced by previous decades, Retro Style provides a very personal setting. Whether the furnishings and accessories are in the mode of the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's or even in the recently popularized 80's, the homeowner has quite a bit of flexibility in the type of look he or she desires. The retro home can suggest a very refined, classic sense, or it can offer a more lighthearted mood with juke boxes and Elvis memorabilia covering all of the walls of a room.
Country
Influenced by the outdoors, country style offers a very homey environment. The furniture is made of various types of wood with many curves. The fabric usually has a check or flower pattern. This style has a heavy emphasis on accessories that often include an arrangement of farm animals highlighting the lived-in nature of the country home.
